Our Goal: Responsible Development for a Better Sleepy Hollow
Unite Sleepy Hollow is committed to the responsible development and continued revitalization of our Village. Our vision is to balance smart economic growth with the preservation of our environment and unique community character. We believe in building a future that enhances our livability and creates economic opportunity without displacing longtime residents.
This isn't a new idea for us. Our founders and current members were instrumental in creating the very plans that guide our development today, including the projects at
Edge-on-Hudson and the Common. Before any decisions were made, we spent years engaging with residents, business owners, and community groups to create the 2019 Comprehensive Plan—a true roadmap built on community consensus.
We are committed to seeing that plan through.
The Experience to Get the Job Done
Having a plan is one thing; having the experience to execute it is another. Our team knows how to secure the resources needed for our Village to thrive. We will leverage our strong relationships with federal, state, and county officials and pursue funding through programs such as:
● New York State Revitalization Programs that provide grants and loans to support community projects.
● Industrial Development Agencies (IDAs), which help finance construction and offer tax benefits for vital projects.
● Local Development Corporations (LDCs), like our own Sleepy Hollow LDC, which was created to promote job growth and revitalization. To date, the SHLDC has already saved Village taxpayers millions of dollars.
Our candidate for Mayor, Jim Husselbee, has direct experience in this area from his time as a board member of the Town of Mt. Pleasant IDA. His expertise will be instrumental in obtaining the grants and funding needed to move our Village forward.
A Loss of Direction: The Current Administration's Failures
Unfortunately, under the current TAG/Dems leadership, the Village has lost its way. Despite years of monumental planning efforts and clear community consensus, the current administration has actively worked to thwart the development plans at the Common. In fact, they recently voted against a resolution sponsored by a Unite Sleepy Hollow board member to finally complete the project.
To make matters worse, the current administration is pursuing other development activities that were never identified as priorities in our community's Comprehensive Plan, all with virtually no public engagement.
Let's Get Back on Track
The path forward for Sleepy Hollow was laid out clearly in the Comprehensive Plan we all built together. It's time to get back on track. Unite Sleepy Hollow has the vision, the experience, and the proven commitment to our community to finish the job.
Please make your voice heard and vote for the Unite Sleepy Hollow ticket of Jim Husselbee for Mayor, and Tom Andruss, Carol Banino, and Jim Garvey for Trustees on November 4th.
