USH’s ICE Policy 10/21/25
Protecting the Rights of All Village Residents
Unite Sleepy Hollow is committed to protecting the rights of ALL Village residents. It is understandable that fellow residents are extremely concerned with the events in our region regarding unlawful enforcement actions by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and USH has committed to engage with ICE only to the extent the due process rights of residents are strictly followed.
Unite Sleepy Hollow was recently endorsed by the Sleepy Hollow Police Benevolent Association, and we will continue to work closely with Sleepy Hollow Police Department (SHPD), Chief Bueti and, our police consultant John Hodges, to ensure the following:

Sleepy Hollow's Financial Budget
Village finances have become the central issue in this year's campaign for Mayor and three trustee seats. After property tax increases of 23.5% over the last two years (increases which were supported by the Dem/TAG team and opposed by Unite Sleepy Hollow) Village residents are rightly asking, "Where has the money gone?" They are also questioning why Dem/TAG candidates Hsu and Rodriguez are claiming the village is near bankruptcy.
Our opponents say they understand the Village's finances, yet they recently admitted in The Hudson Independent that they would only "conduct a thorough financial analysis and plan IF ELECTED".

Our Philosophy:
Village First, Always.
In New York State, there are 532 villages, each with its own unique priorities and challenges. But one thing should unite all of them: a local government dedicated solely to the betterment of its own village.
Unite Sleepy Hollow has only one agenda; yours. Residents have spoken through the drafting of the Comprehensive Plan, the Special Permit, the Waterfront Revitalization Plan, and many other public hearings in recent years. The message has been clear - investment in Sleepy Hollow is urgent. We cannot wait any longer for results.
Although our opponents are seeking to divide our community by pushing partisan narratives, here in Sleepy Hollow we are tired of partisan polarization. The issues we face every day of parking, taxes, responsible development, and the quality of our parks and services, have little to do with the debates in Albany or Washington D.C.

Unite Sleepy Hollow: Our Plan for Halloween
We hear your concerns about Halloween in Sleepy Hollow. We love the festive spirit, but the reality of traffic, parking chaos, and overwhelming crowds can make October a real challenge for those of us who live here. At Unite Sleepy Hollow, we believe our Village can be a world-class destination without overwhelming our residents and threatening our safety.

Unite Sleepy Hollow: Our Support and Plan for the LDC
The Unite Sleepy Hollow candidates are dedicated to the economic development of the village and fully support the Local Development Corporation (LDC) and its crucial role in that process. Unfortunately, the current administration, led by Mayor Rutyna and Trustee Jared Rodriguez (running for reelection), has abandoned years of work and public participation related to the East Parcel.

Our Goal: Expanding Our Tax Base to Lower Your Bills
Have you ever wondered who pays for our Village services? The answer might surprise you. In Sleepy Hollow, over a quarter of all property—more than 34% of the assessable land—is tax-exempt. This means a small number of properties pay nothing in Village taxes, leaving the rest of us to cover 100% of the costs.

Our Goal: A Common-Sense Plan for Parking
If you live, work, or visit our village, you know the challenge of parking in Sleepy Hollow. It’s a concern we’ve all shared for decades, but finding a real solution has been elusive.

Our Goal: Fiscal Responsibility & Lowering Your Taxes
You may have heard a lot of debate about the Village’s finances recently, and it can be confusing. But one thing is crystal clear: your property taxes have increased by 23% over the last two years.
We believe this increase was not only unnecessary, but it was also a failure of leadership. Let’s break down the facts.
USH Newsletter 8/13/25
For years under non-partisan leadership, Sleepy Hollow saw responsible planning and modest tax changes.
That changed in April 2023. Since the Mayor took office, our village has been hit with an outrageous 23.55% property tax increase over just two years.
